New year, new scam: How to avoid falling victim to fraud

Every year, scammers come up with new ways to trick people into giving away personal data. Because keeping your money secure is one of our top priorities, we want to make sure you know the signs and how to protect yourself from fraud attempts.

Scammers are experts at making themselves sound trustworthy. 

Some fraudsters are reaching out to members claiming to be Nuvision representatives. These scammers ask for sensitive information like passwords to access personal bank accounts and move money without consent. They may appear legitimate by using a local phone number or sounding like a real representative.

Protect your money and personal information with these tips: 

  • Never share personal information without confirming a caller’s identity. Caller ID cannot always be trusted. Fraudsters know how to make their messages show up with a name that says “Nuvision.”  
  • Remember that Nuvision will never initiate a call or text asking for sensitive financial or personal information, PIN numbers, or online banking logins. We will only ask for your information after an action you’ve initiated, such as signing in to online banking, sending money, or calling us directly.
  • Don’t respond to suspicious phone calls or text messages. Instead, try reaching out to us directly.
