Helping Kids in Our Community: How We All Made a Difference

At Nuvision, we're not just about banking—we're about being there for our community when it matters most. This summer, we put that belief into action with our "NuvisionCares Helping Kids in Our Community" initiative.

We’ve always been committed to more than just serving our members; we’re dedicated to making a real difference in the communities we call home. That’s why, every year, we roll up our sleeves and commit ourselves to projects that go beyond banking, working to make life better for those who need a helping hand.

Through our joint efforts with the community, we’ve been able to support kids in California and Alaska, providing essential clothing, winter boots, backpacks and school supplies to help them start the school year on the right foot. This work wouldn’t be possible without the support of our members, community partners, and volunteers who share our commitment to uplifting our communities.

At Nuvision, we’re not just a credit union—we’re a community that cares.

Our Commitment to Helping Those in Need

Helping Kids

This July, we focused on helping kids in California and Alaska. In California, we worked with Robyne’s Nest, an incredible organization that supports at-risk and homeless teens in the Huntington Beach and Newport Mesa areas. We collected essential clothing items—like socks, shoes, and hoodies—to make sure these kids have what they need to feel confident as they head back to school.

Robyne Wood, who runs Robyne’s Nest, couldn’t have said it better: "The clothes that Nuvision and their members donated will help so many kids as they prepare to head back to school. Nuvision is a wonderful partner, helping us provide local teens the clothing essentials they need. Thank you, Nuvision, for your generosity."

In Alaska we teamed up with Anchorage Cops for Community for their 10th Annual Clothesline Project. Winters in Alaska can be very severe, so we focused on collecting winter boots, socks and hats for the kids in the communities of Anchorage. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we gathered nearly 1,500 pairs of winter boots, along with socks and hand-knit stocking caps. On the day of the event, our volunteers helped over 1,200 kids find boots that fit, making sure they’re ready to tackle the coming seasons.

Sergeant Jon Butler from the Anchorage Police Department summed it up: "Nuvision showed up in a huge way for this year’s Clothesline Project. With the help of their partners, employees, and members, they have been the difference, ensuring children have properly sized boots that will keep their feet dry and warm as they head back to school."

We also held backpack drives for kids in both Southern California and the Bay Area during our NuvisionCares initiative . The credit union partnered with Long Beach, California non-profit His Little Feet, for the organization’s annual Back to School Fair in Long Beach. Nuvision donated 100 backpacks and much needed school supplies to His Little Feet to help kids in the local community get a head start to the school year. “We cannot express how grateful we are for Nuvision’s incredible support in making this year’s Back to School Fair the best one yet,” said Jenna Wagner, representative with His Little Feet. “Thanks to your hard work and dedication, we had the most volunteers we've ever had, and it truly made all the difference.”

Nuvision’s backpack drive in the Bay Area for the communities of Martinez and Berkeley, California provided 70 backpacks filled with school supplies to elementary school-aged children.  We delivered the backpacks to Las Juntas Elementary School in Martinez, California, as well as  to children participating in the annual Soulful Softball Sunday event at Nicholl Park in Richmond, California.

The Power of Community

None of this would have happened without our community coming together. From the boots donated by Wear a Big Smile Foundation, to the help from Span Alaska in getting them shipped, it was a team effort. And a big thank you to our members and to all our Nuvision team volunteers who spent their time making sure these kids had what they needed to start the school year in a positive way. You didn’t just help out—you made a real difference.

Looking Ahead: For the life you build, and the communities we care for.

Together, we’re building a better future, one small act of kindness at a time.
