Nuvision’s Help Fight Hunger Drive Returns September 28

For many families, putting food on the table has become harder. Higher prices, tighter household budgets, and unexpected expenses can turn something as basic as groceries into a real struggle.

That’s why Nuvision’s annual Help Fight Hunger Drive isback, starting September 28 and running through October 16. This year, we’re supporting four organizations that are doing critical work every day in the communities we serve, providing meals, groceries and other support to people who need it.

Nuvision will match donations to each organization up to $5,000, helping every contribution go a little further. Each organization has its own GoFundMe page, so you can choose where your donation goes and support the community that means the most to you.

This year’s campaign is focused on providing monetary donations rather than food collection at our branches. If you prefer to donate food, we encourage you to give directly to a local food bank or one of the organizations featured below.

Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa (Bay Area)

Loaves and Fishes has been feeding people throughout Contra Costa County since 1983. The organization operates five dining rooms across the county, and each location also gives people access to groceries through its food pantry. The Martinez and Pittsburg locations serve meals seven days a week, except on designated holidays and closure dates.

In 2025, demand for their services continued to grow. Loaves and Fishes served 534,985 meals, up 4% from the year before, and distributed 392 tons of groceries, a 51% increase. More than 2,800 people were served, with over 100 volunteers helping each week.

About 90% of the food used in their kitchens is donated, helping keep the cost of providing a meal to roughly $1.70.

Loaves and Fishes also operates a free 12-week culinary arts training program that helps prepare participants for entry-level jobs in the food service industry.

Nuvision proudly supports and volunteers with Loaves and Fishes  , most recently through their annual Big La Bocce fundraiser.

The Children's Lunchbox (Anchorage)

The Children's Lunchbox, a program of Bean's Cafe, began with a focus on feeding children and has grown to support entire families throughout Anchorage.

The organization prepares more than 6,800 meals in an average month and works with more than 16 schools and community programs, including Step Up School, Sunflower Preschool and Safe Harbor transitional housing.

Funds raised for the Anchorage  Help Fight Hunger Drive will support the organization’s pantry pack program. Each food box provides a breakfast, lunch or dinner for a family of four, and families typically receive several boxes at a time.

Because the food does not require refrigeration, the boxes can also be distributed to families outside Anchorage and throughout Alaska.

Nuvision team members help assemble these boxes twice a year, most recently in August. We also sponsored the organization’s Empty Bowl Project in April.

Paz de Cristo (Mesa)

Paz de Cristo serves dinner in its dining hall every night of the year while volunteers also pack and distribute emergency food boxes seven days a week.

Together, those efforts provide more than 50,000 meals each month to people throughout the Phoenix East Valley.

Their support goes beyond meals. Paz de Cristo also provides clothing, haircuts and other basic-needs assistance to people dealing with hunger, poverty and homelessness throughout Maricopa County.

Nuvision supported Paz de Cristo during the grand opening of our Mesa Longbow branch, and we’re proud to continue that relationship through this year’s Help Fight Hunger Drive.

Friday Food Bag Foundation (Cheyenne)

For many children, school provides an important source of dependable meals. The Friday Food Bag Foundation helps make sure those children also have something to eat over the weekend.

The organization’s all-volunteer team delivers bags of single-serve, non-perishable food to schools in LCSD #1 and LCSD #2 each week. School staff then distribute those bags to students who need them.

During the 2024-2025 school year, 5,984 students in LCSD #1 qualified for free and reduced meals, representing 45.3% of enrollment. In LCSD #2, 427 students qualified, or 41.5% of enrollment.

The Friday Food Bag Foundation currently distributes 1,000 bags each week. That costs approximately $6,000 a week and about $212,800 a year, all funded through donations.

Nuvision has supported the Friday Food Bag Foundation for years, and this drive gives our members another opportunity to help them continue their important work in the community.
