Connecting with Our Members: Nuvision’s May Community Highlights
Between Memorial Day and a packed calendar of local events, May is always a busy month for us. This year was no exception. Our teams across Alaska, Wyoming, and California spent the last few weeks out in the community—volunteering, hosting member events, and finding ways to give back.
Here is a quick look at what we were doing in our local communities.
Honoring Fallen Heroes in Orange County

In Southern California, we teamed up with our long-time partners at the Freedom Committee of Orange County (FCOC) to support the 72nd Annual Memorial Day Ceremony in Costa Mesa.
The event brought together veterans, active-duty military, and local families to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. It was an incredibly moving day, from the wreath presentation and live patriotic music to the Missing Man flyover overhead. Watching those planes pass over the crowd really brought the true meaning of the day into focus for everyone there.
Our team spent the day serving refreshments, chatting with veterans and their families, and simply being part of a community coming together in gratitude. We’re so thankful to support this tradition year after year.
Catching Up with Members in Alaska

We hosted our big Member Celebrations in Anchorage and Fairbanks this month, and the turnout was incredible.
- In Anchorage: More than 300 members joined us at the Alaska Aviation Museum for an evening of live music and food. While we were there, we also got to present $2,500 donations to both the museum and Paws for Purple Hearts of Alaska. (and a lifetime Achievement Award to Cathy Hiebert?)
- In Fairbanks: Nearly 100 guests—including local leaders—came out to help us welcome our new branch management team and support the American Legion Interior Alaska Post 99.
Supporting Our Military Families in Cheyenne and Fairbanks
With Memorial Day on everyone's mind, military appreciation was a huge focus for us.
In Cheyenne, we were honored to participate in the Military Awards Trophy Ceremony, an annual luncheon that recognizes four active-duty service members with Military Excellence Awards. Our team also honored our longtime partner Bill Frye, Adjutant Commander American Legion Post 6 in Cheyenne, with our Nuvision Hero Award for his service.
We were privileged to also sponsor the Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce Military Appreciation Picnic on base (the first time they've been able to hold it since COVID). The picnic served meals to close to 3,000 military members and their families. Our team provided condiments for the event and ran a activity station that provided fun for the kids. Nuvision was proud to support veterans and active military in Wyoming.
Up in Fairbanks, we also attended the Military Appreciation Banquet to show our support for Alaska’s service members and their families alongside local leaders and officials.
Honoring Memorial Day
Our teams also spent time volunteering to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
- In Juneau: Local team members visited the Alaska Memorial Cemetery to place 416 flags at veteran headstones.
- In Wasilla: Our team partnered with the Wasilla of Commerce for the 30th Annual Military Appreciation Luncheon. Our team attended with Veteran-Owned Business Members and donated to the local American Legion Post 35 to support Veterans in the MatSu Valley.
- In Anchorage: Nearly 80 volunteers showed up for our 5th Annual Honoring Our Heroes Headstone Cleanup. Over the last five years, this project has helped clean and restore around 3,000 headstones in the cemetery.
- We wrapped up the month with the Anchorage Memorial Day BBQ. Over 350 veterans and community members came out for live music, food, and a special bandstand dedication recognizing Nuvision and the local Eagle Scouts who worked hard to fix up the space.
In the Bay Area, More than 75 veterans, family members, community leaders, and guests gathered at the Veterans Memorial Building in Martinez on Memorial Day for Nuvision Credit Union’s 2nd Annual Memorial Day Veterans Luncheon. Held following the City of Martinez Memorial Day ceremony, the luncheon provided an opportunity for attendees to come together in recognition of those who served.
Nuvision team members Antoine and Jaxon Nash, Dana and Trinity Barnes, Beth and Tanner Bernal, Tatiana Montgomery, Courtney Smith-Payne, and Linda Meza helped support the event, assisting with setup, hospitality, and guest support throughout the afternoon.
Members of the Martinez Sturgeon baseball team also volunteered during the luncheon, helping serve meals and spending time with veterans and guests. Lunch was catered by Slow Hand BBQ.
Mayor Brianne Zorn, Vice Mayor Satinder Mahli, and Councilmembers Debbie McKillop and Jay Howard were among the local leaders who stopped by following the City ceremony.
