Can you imagine how hard it must be for a kid to go to school without decent clothing? Sadly, many kids in our community face this struggle every day. Children should be able to focus on learning, not worrying about fitting in at school. That's why we're kicking off three NuvisionCares drives to support these kids, and we need your help to make it a success.

Why We're Dedicated to Helping Kids in Need

At Nuvision, we're all about helping people build better lives, and that starts with supporting our community's children. Many local kids are having a hard time getting the clothes they need, which can really affect their confidence and performance in school. Imagine not wanting to go to school because you feel out of place or embarrassed. Studies show that giving kids the clothing they need can reduce absenteeism by up to 62%, helping kids feel more included, focused, and ready to learn.

  • In the United States, about 11.6 million children live in poverty, making up 16% of the child population.
  • Over 4% of all California K–12 students experienced homelessness in the 2022–23 school year. These children need our help.
  • Proper clothing is more than just a necessity; it's a foundation for success. Kids without adequate clothing often miss school because they feel embarrassed or face bullying.
  • When children have the right clothes, they feel included and confident in school. This boosts their self-esteem, social interactions, and overall mental health.

How You Can Help And Make a Difference

Southern California Clothing Drive Benefiting Robyne's Nest
Collection Dates: July 5 – August 5, 2024

Join us in collecting basic clothing essentials for teens in our community. Items of high need include new socks, underwear, shoes, and hoodies for high school and early college students.

How to Donate:

Alaska Boot Drive Benefiting The Clothesline Project
Collection Dates: July 1 – August 1, 2024

We are asking our members to donate new boots and winter socks for children and teens in the Anchorage area. We have a high need for boys' winter boots for kids and teens (ages 6-18).

How to Donate:

  • Drop-off new boots: At any Nuvision Alaska branch in Anchorage or Eagle River.
  • Shop online: Choose preselected items from our Amazon Wishlist.

Northern California Backpack Drive: Helping Kids in the Community
Collection Dates: July 8 – August 16, 2024

We are excited to welcome our team and members from Northern California from the Cooperative Center FCU merger! This is the 8th annual backpack drive, first time as Nuvision, and we are honored to continue the tradition. Backpacks will be collected, filled with school supplies, and distributed at two separate locations:

  • Las Juntas Elementary School: Each 1st grade child will receive a backpack.
  • Soulful Softball Sunday:  Children in attendance will receive backpacks on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.

How to Donate:

  • Drop-off new backpacks and school supplies: At our Martinez or Berkeley branches.
  • Shop online: Choose preselected items from our Amazon Wishlist.
