Beyond High School Resource Fair at University of Alaska Anchorage
Thank you to the students, families, and organizations that attended our first Beyond High School Resource Fair at University of Alaska Anchorage on Saturday! We also appreciate @Junior Achievement of Alaska for being a wonderful co-host for the day.
High school students in Anchorage had the opportunity to learn how to prepare for life beyond high school. They learned relevant and engaging information about careers, colleges, and how to navigate their own personal financial journeys while entering adult life.
Highlights from this exciting day included:
- Guest speakers Mayor Dave Bronson & Junior Aumavae, Chief Equity Officer for Anchorage and former NFL player
- Inspirational speeches from APD officer Sgt. Jon Butler and the chair of the Anchorage Chamber Ambassador Council and American Legion Laura Dean.
- Financial panel with Nuvision Alaska, @Alaska 529, UA Scholars Award Program and Adulting Done Right moderated by our emcee Ashley Ebnet from the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation
- Business Owner panel featuring @Peppercinis Deli and Catering , Locally Grown Restaurants (SnowCity Cafe, @Spenard Roadhouse, South Restaurant + Coffeehouse, CRUSH Wine Bistro & Cellar), and Toast of the Town.
- College & career informational workshops hosted by JA of Alaska
- Lunch sponsored by Nuvision and catered by Peppercinis
- Prize drawings including a Playstation 5, two Super Bowl Parties for 15 from Peppercinis, gift cards to Kaladi Brothers Coffee, Alaska Subway, Jewel Lake Tastee-Freez, @Crumbl Cookies, @Orso, and more!
