Alaska Event

Hundreds of Nuvision members spent a Thursday evening outdoors under the late August sky, enjoying stunning lakeside views and a cool summer breeze. At our August 19th Member Celebration Event, we wanted to show the community how much we care. This meant bringing the best of everything—the best local catering, the best local band, and the best venue to represent our values, the Anchorage Aviation Museum.

Over 400 members and community leaders joined us, smiling and cheering as the H3 Reggae Band took the stage.

Our members have been craving live music, and the H3 Reggae Band did not disappoint. Living up to their reputation as Alaska’s best Polynesian Reggae band, they immediately lifted the energy of the crowd with the first strum of the guitar.

With the sounds of H3 in the background, members, the Nuvision team, and local leaders enjoyed time chatting and getting to know one another. More than thirty Nuvision team members joined to support and spend time with guests.

The night was emceed by Alyssa London, founder of Culture Story, Former Miss Alaska USA, and Tlingit Cultural Ambassador. Her enthusiasm for embracing local culture and supporting the community was inspiring, leaving everyone in the room motivated to continue working hard to make their neighborhoods a better place.

Local restaurants, community partners, and special guests brought the celebration to life.

We were beyond grateful to have the support of two local restaurants and two local breweries. Sal’s New York Grill and Peppercini’s Catering served delicious menus, which included appetizers, gourmet sliders, street tacos, and more. Midnight Sun Brewing Co. and Crush Wine Bistro & Cellars topped off the night with hand-selected beer and specialty wine to go with the meal.

Making this a community-centered event was one of our top priorities, so we loved being able to support and recommend these exceptional local businesses.

The location reminded us of Nuvision’s enduring legacy of supporting hardworking people, uniting Nuvision’s storied past with Denali’s vibrant present.

From the event location, guests could see and hear the small planes taking off from Lake Hood--the world's largest seaplane base. They also had the opportunity to tour the connecting museum. One aircraft on display, built by our founders in 1935, reminded everyone of Nuvision’s enduring legacy of supporting hardworking people. It was a Douglas World Cruiser.

The same people who started Nuvisoin Credit Union also helped build this plane, which became the first aircraft to circumnavigate the earth nearly 100 years ago. As the memories of past members met present members walking through the museum, we saw how important our mission of helping members build their lives truly is. Hardworking Nuvision members have changed the world, and we’re sure current members who attended that night will too.

Nuvision is laying the foundation for future success.

As a way to invest in the local area, Nuvision presented donations to multiple community-minded organizations. $2,500 donations were provided to Alaska Aviation Museum, Last Frontier Honor Flight and the Alaska Humanities Forum.

By supporting the people and organizations who invest in the community, we know we can make a difference. We look forward to continuing to serve the people of Alaska for many years to come. A photo gallery of the event can be viewed on our Facebook page here.
