Celebrating Our Members, America’s 250th and a Summer of Giving Back

This summer, Nuvision Credit Union celebrated America's 250th birthday by giving back to our members and supporting organizations that serve our communities.

Through our Added Advantage Happy Birthday America Cash Giveaway, 13 members across the communities we serve received cash prizes. Members who followed Nuvision on social media were eligible to double their winnings, which brought the total awarded to as much as $25,000. Winners were selected from branches in Southern California, Alaska, Wyoming and beyond, and we spoke with each of them to share the news.

For several winners, the timing worked out well.

Ana Medina, a five-year member from our Monterey Park, CA branch, won $2,600 and plans to use the money to visit her son in Oklahoma.

"This couldn't have come at a better time," she shared.

Cesar Santos, a new member from our Laguna Hills, CA branch, won $2,600 and plans to put it toward school expenses for his four-year-old.

"This will cover the tuition, books and backpack," Cesar said. "With all prices going up, this is good news."

Patricia Boone, a 17-year member from Juneau, AK is using her prize for airline tickets for a family medical trip. Brian Jones, a 16-year member in East Anchorage, AK, who recently retired, said much of his winnings would help his mother-in-law as she moves into an assisted living facility following a stroke. Other winners told us they plan to save the money, put it toward a vehicle, or set it aside for upcoming expenses.

Our $5,000 grand prize winner, Russel "Rusty" Palmer, has been a member through our Cheyenne, WY 18th Street branch for nine years. He recently purchased a new truck and said the prize will help him buy some of the things he still needs for it.

During those conversations, several members also talked about their experience with Nuvision. Many mentioned being greeted by name at the branch, getting personal attention, and being able to reach a real person when they need help.

Louise Gissin, a 31-year member in Anchorage, mentioned the team members who know her by name and the fraud specialists who have helped protect her accounts. Joshua Uebersetzig, a 16-year member, said he values the attention, teamwork and personal connection he receives from Nuvision. Karolyn Hunt, a member for 22 years, said our team has always been easy to work with through her auto loans, credit cards and other financial needs.

Several of our winners have been with us for well over a decade, and a few for more than 20 years. Those long relationships are a big part of what makes a credit union different. Our members are families saving for school, planning trips to see relatives, preparing for retirement and handling unexpected expenses, and we get to be part of that.

In honor of America's 250th birthday, and to cap off our Happy Birthday America Cash Giveaway, Nuvision is also donating $2,500 to Team Red, White & Blue, a nonprofit that helps veterans improve their physical and mental health through fitness, community activities and social connection.

Congratulations to all 13 of our winners, and thank you to everyone who participated. We're glad we could celebrate our nation’s anniversary this way, and we appreciate the members who continue to trust us with their finances.
