Honoring Our Heroes: Nuvision's Memorial Day
Memorial Day is a time of deep reflection and gratitude, a moment to honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. It's a day when communities across the nation come together to remember and pay tribute to the valor, dedication, and unwavering spirit of our military heroes. At Nuvision, we are honored to celebrate this important day with events and activities that allow us to connect with and support our military families.
California Memorial Day Events
In California, Nuvision participated in the 70th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park in Costa Mesa. We were honored to again support our community partner, The Freedom Committee of Orange County, at this wonderful event. The ceremony featured a wreath-laying to remember U.S. servicemen and women who lost their lives serving their country. Veterans, active-duty military members, and their families gathered to pay their respects and express their gratitude. The program included a “Missing Man formation” military flyover, a World War II transport flyover, and remarks and a performance by a military band. Nuvision volunteers provided coffee and drinks to veterans and their families and joined the ceremony alongside our community members to remember and honor our fallen heroes.
Military May in Wyoming
In Wyoming, Nuvision was the proud sponsor of Military May in Cheyenne, which began with a military awards ceremony early in the month. On Armed Forces Day, May 18th, our team volunteered at the Military Appreciation Picnic, hosted in collaboration with the Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce. Over 600 guests, including veterans, active-duty military, and their families, enjoyed a free lunch, games, and activities. It was a privilege to continue our tradition of supporting this event, both as sponsors and volunteers, to show our gratitude to our military heroes in Wyoming.
Honoring Our Heroes Headstone Cleanup in Alaska
This past Saturday, we hosted our 3rd Annual Honoring Our Heroes Headstone Cleanup at the Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery in Alaska. Our Nuvision team, along with our partners from the American Legion Jack Henry Post 1, as well as local members, and soldiers from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, tended to hundreds of gravesites to honor our Veteran Heroes. Volunteers placed a penny on each gravesite, following the tradition of leaving one as a symbol that a Veteran’s gravesite was visited. Over 100 volunteers participated, maintaining the legacy of our veterans by caring for 250 headstones this year. Over the past three years, we have honored a total of 1,000 headstones. Special thanks to the AK Coffee Company, ZIP Kombucha, Peppercini’s Catering, and Moose’s Tooth for their participation and kind donations of refreshments.
Memorial Day BBQ in Anchorage
In Anchorage, it was an honor to spend time with military veterans during our 5th Annual Memorial Day BBQ at the American Legion Jack Henry Post 1. Nuvision hosted this free luncheon to show appreciation for active military service men and women, and our veterans, offering great food, live music, and the opportunity for veterans to connect. The ceremony featured speeches from our CEO Roger Ballard, Post 1 Commander Charlene Martin, and Anchorage Mayor David Bronson. We also made donations to Paws for Purple Hearts of Alaska and the Alaska Armed Services YMCA. Although we can never fully repay our military for their sacrifices, hosting luncheons like these is our way of showing appreciation and gratitude to the veterans with us today. Thank you to Post 1, our Nuvision members, and the community for making this day special.
