Nuvision Credit Union Community Highlights for December

As we wrap up another year, we at Nuvision Credit Union feel immensely grateful for the opportunity to serve and give back to our communities. It is through the unwavering support and generosity of our members that we are able to make a meaningful difference.

This December, we were involved in several community events across California, Alaska, and Wyoming. These initiatives not only brought joy to many but also highlighted the remarkable power of generosity, reminding us of the profound difference we can make together in people's lives.

Here's a recap of some of the activities we were involved in:

California Community Events

Shop with a Cop

Costa Mesa Shop with a Cop

On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, we joined the Costa Mesa Police Department in their Shop with a Cop event. It was an honor to spread holiday cheer among the local kids and support the efforts of our local police department.

Huntington Beach Shop with a Cop

The following day, December 13, we were proud to support the Huntington Beach Shop with a Cop event. Thank you to the Huntington Beach Police for their ongoing commitment to our community.

Toys for Tots Toy Drive

Throughout Southern California, Nuvision employees filled our branches with toys for the Toys for Tots program, demonstrating the spirit of giving and community support.

NuvisionCares Holiday Food Drive

Robyne's Nest Drive

Throughout November, we hosted the NuvisionCares Holiday Food Drive, benefiting Robyne's Nest. Not only did we collect substantial food donations, but we also raised over $8,000 in funds, thanks to our members' generosity and our matching initiative. The Orange County Indian Motorcycle Riders Group's 4th Annual Holiday Food Drive – Ride for At-Risk & Homeless Students also included Nuvision Credit Union as a key stop, contributing significantly to the success of the event.

Alaska & Wyoming December Community Events

Shop with a Cop

Anchorage Shop with a Hero

In the Shop with a Hero event in Anchorage, we helped children in need to go holiday shopping. They were paired with members of the Anchorage Police Department, including officers and SWAT team members, to pick out holiday gifts. This year, we were happy to give out twice as many toys.

"The Nuvision toy drive brings extra cheer during the Holiday season to local kids in need at the Shop with a Hero event! It's fun to see their little faces light up with excitement when they pick out a new toy." -Melissa Lampert, Anchorage Police Department.

Anchorage Senior Activity Center Veterans Appreciation Luncheon

Nuvision Alaska sponsored a luncheon to honor senior veterans. We provided meals at the event and also for disabled veterans who couldn't attend. The luncheon had a color guard, music from the 9th Army Band, and speeches from local leaders.

Wasilla Santa at the Shoppes

Our team helped sponsor the 2nd Annual Santa at the Shoppes in Wasilla, Alaska to provide a fun and free holiday experience for the community. Families enjoyed horse-drawn sleigh rides, photos with Santa and his Reindeer, prizes, and a scavenger hunt with activities at each business at the Shoppes. Our Wasilla branch had a special holiday photo bus for families to take a souvenir photo home and Nuvision donated an iPad to the prize giveaway.

Lisa Whitmore Shop with a Cop & Fire Fighter

We worked with the Anchorage Police and Fire Departments to give a special holiday experience to children from homeless shelters. They were taken to Fred Meyer to shop for holiday gifts. Our volunteers and those from the police and fire departments wrapped the gifts. Thanks to donations from us and others, each child got $225 to spend.

Alaska Holiday Toy Drive

Toy Drive

With support from our members, we were able to give out over 600 toys to children through our Alaska Holiday Toy Drive. We worked with various organizations across the state to get these toys to children who needed them.

"This year, we are partnering with Nuvision and their secret Santas once again to help us bring hope to children who are facing family hardships. Thank you to your members and team for your warm hearts. You will bring jolly memories to children this Christmas!"

Sgt. Jon Butler, Anchorage Cops for Community

Wyoming Toys for Tots Drive

In Wyoming, our team and members in Casper and Cheyenne collected more than 150 toys for Toys for Tots. We also donated $2,500 to the Laramie County Toys for Tots to help families in Cheyenne this holiday season. We're grateful for the support from our members and for the work that Toys for Tots does.
