Nuvision's 3rd Annual Essay Challenge
In 2016, Nuvision Credit Union launched a unique program to help bring financial literacy back into the public school system. Through its Essay Challenge scholarship program, Nuvision has brought financial education programs to over a dozen
Southern California schools and has rewarded over $50,000 in college scholarships and funds to help local schools teach financial literacy to students.
The Nuvision Essay Challenge is different from any other scholarship program for a variety of reasons. The ability to bring in financial advisors to educate students and their parents on topics that aren’t taught in schools is one of the top reasons. However, Nuvision is also committed to motivating the youth to follow their passions, which is why they partner with athletes and other professionals to speak to students about their own experiences, not only in following their dreams, but how they learned to manage their money.
This year, the third annual Nuvision Essay Challenge is well under way. Workshops are moving forward at full speed and students are getting prepared to write their essays. Students are taking tips from experts such as Rose Macias, a certified financial planner as well as former NFL players, Ron Brown, Terrell Thomas and Thomas Williams.
