HONORING OUR HEROES-HEADSTONE CLEAN-UP FOR MEMORIAL DAY
To honor Veterans laid to rest at the Anchorage Memorial Cemetery, our Nuvision team is partnering with American Legion Jack Henry Post 1 for the 5th year in a row to clean headstones in time for Memorial Day. We hope to pay tribute to these soldiers by making their names be seen and recognized.
Thanks to the hard work of volunteers, we have cleaned over 2,000 headstones so far. We are asking for our members and the community to come together once again to make a meaningful difference.
The Legion's Auxiliary and the VFW will be placing American Flags at each gravesite to indicate which veteran headstones to be maintained.
Please consider signing up to join us. You are welcome to bring your family or friends, the more volunteers we get, the larger impact we can make. We will be providing coffee and snacks to volunteers during the event and there is a reception at the American Legion after the clean-up.
We will have tools on-hand, but we encourage bringing your own if you can:
- Gardening gloves
- Tools to cut sod: Lawn edgers, garden knives, boxcutters, carpet cutting tool, and pruning saws
- Hand tools: trowels, pruners & cultivators
- Scrub brushes (natural or nylon bristles only)
- 5 gallon buckets
- Water jugs and spray bottles (no pressure washers)
- Carts & wheelbarrows
You are welcome to bring your family or friends, the more volunteers we get, the larger impact we can make. All volunteers are invited to Post 1 for a reception after the cleanup.
