If you’ve ever been in an accident, had a medical emergency, or witnessed a crime, you’ve experienced the help of first responders.

Always just a call away, our first responders stop at nothing to ensure our safety.

Even if you haven’t been directly helped, their work has still impacted you. Every day, first responders give their all to keep our neighborhoods and cities safe, using their bravery and ability to deal with tough situations to keep things under control.

But the work doesn’t always end when they go home—they carry the mindset of a hero wherever they go. Even when off-duty, they are always ready to volunteer to help. Being a first responder isn’t just a job; it’s their life. They are heroes to the core and will do whatever it takes to ensure our safety. Today, we want to celebrate these people who give so much to our communities.

A history of heroism: how first responders make a difference

Everybody knows about the tragic events that happened on September 11th, 2001. It was an event that rocked America—causing confusion and fear across the country. Things looked bleak, and it felt like the world was crumbling. But everything changed when our nation’s first responders stepped onto the scene.

When most people were running away from the danger, the bravest among us were running towards it. They sacrificed their own safety to protect the wellbeing of others. Those quick and selfless actions helped many escape from the buildings and make it through.

We will always remember the tremendous loses that occurred on that horrific day, but thanks to our first responders who showed up and helped --the police officers, firefighters, former marines, security officials, and extraordinary citizens—we can look back and celebrate the bravery and heroism our first responders showed, and the lives that were saved as a result of their choices.

Changing the world for the better

September 11th was a day that the strength and bravery of our first responders was clearly put on display, but it isn’t the only time they show their heroism. Every day, first responders save lives, prevent dangerous occurrences, and stop bad situations from getting worse.

They make choices that not many of us would make: prioritizing our safety over their own. First responders put aside their personal wants for the good of the community, which is why we want to honor them this month.

Nuvision wants to say thank you this month

To thank the first responders for all they do, Nuvision is having a special giveaway to honor the heroes who go above and beyond to serve their communities. At our Edinger branch in Huntington Beach, from Wednesday, September 11th to Monday, September 30th, we’ll be handing out movie tickets, In-n-Out gift cards as well as spa vouchers to the first 200 police officers, firefighters, doctors, and nurses (with valid ID.

In Cheyenne, Wyoming, all of our branches will be handing out free $25 gas cards to first responders in the community. For more details, click here.

This is part of an ongoing effort to honor the heroes in our community: from our Memorial Day gas giveaway and Freedom Ride honoring those who help ensure our freedoms to handing out KIND bars to nurses, we want all of our first responders to know we appreciate them and everything they do.
