Making your days a little brighter: Nuvision’s Summer Community Outreach Initiatives
Summer is the perfect time to bring a little extra sunshine to our local community! With 2019 reaching its halfway mark, Nuvision is looking forward towards new opportunities to give a helping hand this season and looking back on the ways we’ve already made a difference this year. From honoring our local heroes to bringing magic to the next generation, here are some of the ways we are giving back to the hard-working people in our communities this year:
A look back
4th of July Freedom Ride
A team of Nuvision employees, volunteers, and over 200 motorcyclists from all over the Southern California region gathered at Nuvision’s headquarters in Huntington Beach, CA for an exciting, action-packed two-hour long ride to thank veterans and first-responders for defending our right to be free.
The 200 plus riders were joined by special guest Dakota Meyer, veteran and Medal of Honor recipient. Known for saving 36 US and Afghan soldiers in Afghanistan, he is the first living Marine to be honored in over 38 years and is the second youngest Medal of Honor recipient in U.S. history.
At 10 am the riders rolled into Cook’s Corner where they were greeted by friendly smiles, American flags, and a free BBQ lunch. Dakota Meyer delivered a personal speech plus Q&A section while country music artist and military veteran Gethen Jenkins closed the event with some of his greatest hits.
For every rider that participated, Nuvision donated $25 to the Freedom Committee of Orange County to continue their efforts educating the next generation about America’s heroes, which amounted to $5,400 in donations to the organization.
Memorial Day Gas Giveaway
On Memorial Day, Nuvision gave away more than 11,000 gallons of free gasoline, along with free car washes and lunch, to veterans and active-duty military at separate events in Huntington Beach and Cheyenne, Wyoming. After receiving free gas, veterans at the Huntington Beach giveaway were invited to a free carwash, and at the Cheyenne event they were given a free lunch.
Along with the main events, we also gave away more than 200 free $50 gas cards to active-duty and retired service members in our in Mesa, Arizona; Kent, Washington, and Tikahtnu, Alaska locations.
Pardners N’ Prosperity Luncheon | Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce CFD Kick-off
Cheyenne Frontier Days recently celebrated the 123rd year of western culture and sport with another year of parades, rodeo events, and much more! As a means to kick-off Frontier Days, the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual luncheon showcasing the partnerships between business and agriculture. This year, luncheon attendance was filled with over 600 guests, with Nuvision as a Bronze Sponsor for the event. Team members attended to represent in locally finished, branded ‘western wear,’ as to keep with the spirit of the event. Luncheon speakers included Wyoming State FFA Association and Wyoming Stock Growers Association members, Mayor Marian Orr, Governor Mark Gordon, and Senators Liz Cheney and John Barrasso. In addition to local business partners and dignitaries, crew members of the U.S.S. Cheyenne and U.S.S. Wyoming were in attendance and honored during the luncheon, as military ties run deep and are very strong within the Cheyenne community.
