Nuvision Heroes: Honoring Taylor Davoren, Huntington Beach Police Officer of the Year
What does it mean to protect and serve? For Officer Taylor Davoren, it’s not about recognition; it’s about commitment to her community. In honor of National First Responders Day, we’re proud to feature Taylor, a third-generation police officer and Huntington Beach’s Officer of the Year. Her dedication to helping others and building trust within her community is the kind of service that makes a lasting difference, especially in her work with young people and community safety programs.
Taylor Davoren comes from a long line of law enforcement officers, with her family’s history of service stretching back three generations. For Taylor, becoming a police officer wasn’t just a career choice—it was a way to carry on the legacy of service passed down by her parents and grandparents. Now, as an officer with Huntington Beach PD, Taylor brings that same dedication to her role, working tirelessly to make a difference every day.
When asked about being named Officer of the Year, Taylor’s response reflected her humility. "I was just coming in day in, day out and trying to do as much as I can for the department. I didn’t really think I was making that much of an effect, so it was nice to be honored for that." This modesty is a hallmark of those who truly embody the spirit of service.
Taylor’s work is diverse, ranging from patrol duties to juvenile investigations and background checks for new recruits. Her heart, though, has always been with the youth of the community. Having spent time as a school resource officer, she takes pride in helping young people find better paths. Whether it's helping students get back on track or running safety programs for kids, Taylor has always seen the importance of connecting with the community’s youth.
One standout example of her impact is the work Taylor has done with bicycle safety in Huntington Beach. She has helped create and run programs where kids can learn about safety rules, and instead of receiving tickets for minor infractions, they’re educated on how to stay safe on the road. The gratitude from parents has been overwhelming, and Taylor’s initiatives have not only kept kids safer but also fostered stronger ties between the police department and local families.
Beyond her work with young people, Taylor emphasizes the importance of building trust with the wider community. Whether interacting with residents or visitors, her approach is grounded in honesty and transparency—key ingredients to building meaningful relationships. "It’s all about being down to earth with people and building that trust," she shared during our interview.
Off the clock, Taylor enjoys spending time at the beach or on the golf course, recharging so she can continue giving her best to the community she serves.
As we close out National First Responders Day, it’s heroes like Taylor Davoren who remind us why we recognize and celebrate their dedication and service. They don’t just do their jobs—they shape the future of our communities, one action at a time. Nuvision Credit Union is proud to highlight Officer Davoren’s contributions, and we’re committed to supporting heroes like her every day.
