HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (August 13, 2015) – NuVision Federal Credit Union announced it has sponsored Summer Science Camp 2015 for over 300 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 with a $10,000 donation. The camp, which was attended by students from both Orange and Los Angeles Counties, was held July 10-11, 17-18 and 24-25 at Pioneer High School in Whittier, Calif. Other sponsors of the program included Boeing and Southern California Gas Company.

Through NuVision’s sponsorship, the camp was able to provide scholarships for students in need, as well as keep the overall cost of the camp very low for all participating families. In addition to promoting life-long learning in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) through hands-on experiments, the camp also offered optional Early Morning Math classes to students in Grades 2-12 at no additional charge.

“NuVision is honored to support this outstanding program that promotes STEM education for elementary and high school students,” said Attila Morgan, Manager of Community Involvement and Business Development at NuVision. “Education is a vital area of focus for NuVision in our ongoing support of our local communities.” In July 2015, NuVision awarded $10,000 in college scholarships to students from Southern California as part of its annual NuVision Scholarship Program, which the credit union began offering in 2008.

“NuVision is very supportive of our communities,” said Dr. Irella Perez, El Monte School District Superintendent. “They truly understand that everything stems from science. NuVision is strengthening and enriching our kids with their support.”
